How the weekend began

Never get my disease

because no one should have to hear

that their skin can take on a wooden quality,

and find themselves sitting with one leg up

on a Friday night doing something inane

on a computer and see their skin and see

exactly what is meant by those words.

No one should have to

stretch it out, watch it

lose that woodenness,

remember it is systemic – because

let's face it

the fact that your skin

will look

like to wood has made its way

inside you.
